Swap Shop Information
Located at the entrance to the Wellford Landfill, the Swap Shop allows items that might otherwise be disposed of in a landfill to be reclaimed by residents of Spartanburg County.
Targeted materials must be considered "reusable" and may include metal bed frames and other bulky furniture, books, bicycles, dishes, electronics, wheel chairs, wheelbarrows, wood/metal shelving, lumber, storm windows and many more suitable items.
The Swap Shop is open Monday through Saturday, 7:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and available to residents of Spartanburg County.
LATEX PAINT EXCHANGE
Spartanburg County residents also can participate in the Paint Exchange program. If you have reusable paint (and labels are still legible) than you can drop off the paint at any of the staffed recycling centers. In addition, residents also may take paint from the collection sites for their own use.
If residents have paint at home that is not resuable, it is important to get the paint ready for proper disposal. It is recommended that the liquid paint be solidified by adding any of the following: sawdust, kitty kitter, Sacrete (or some other type of quick cement), sand or dirt. Once the paint has turned into a solid, the cans can be thrown away with household garbage.
